LISA STEELE
Lisa Steele is a Canadian artist, and a pioneer in video art. In 1974, Steele chronicled her passage through time in a thirteen-minute black and white videotape where she presents her naked body to the camera and examines the various scars she's accumulated over her life up to that point. The work has been critiqued as a representation of the body as a gendered subject and of the female body in narrative cinema.
